Today we are pleased to feature Diana & Matthew’s fantastic “surprise” wedding at Pavilion de la Jamaique inside Montreal’s Parc Jean-Drapeau.

The wedding was captured by Adam Feldstain Photography, who gives us a little more about the story of their day in July 2015…

The Vision for the Day / Planning process

The planning and the vision for the day go hand-in-hand in this case. Diana & Matthew started out with the feeling that they weren’t going to have a ceremony, rather, they wanted get married in a judge’s chambers and have a really great, laid-back party with their family and friends. Over the course of the planning process and finding a venue, they decided that they were going to have a ceremony – but insisted that it be out of the ordinary. And they weren’t going to tell anyone.

The colour scheme was an airy mint green, cream & white, with a punch of coral in the dance floor décor. String lights hung outside and over the dance floor to give it a terrace feel. The menu consisted of chicken and waffles, Korean buns & a salad bar. Followed up with ice cream sandwiches, molten laval cakes and mini pies for dessert.

Diana and Matthew wanted to have a surprise ceremony, but weren’t sure how we were going to execute this. After some brainstorming we decided that we are going to do a “pop-up” ceremony. Once the guests have moved inside from cocktails, there was a musical cue for the bridal party to bring out the chuppah (wedding canopy) and create an aisle for the bride and her father to walk down. Diana stayed hidden the entire time, so the anticipation to see her was really high. Diana & Matthew got married in the center of the dance floor, in and amongst their closest friends & family. Matthew’s uncle officiated the ceremony and once it was over, the chuppah was collapsed and put away and the party got started immediately with a hora!

Their vision turned into a reality and went off nearly without any hitches. Aside from the fire department showing up…
